4 oz of hand-dyed, 50% CVM and 50% Cormo roving! The sheep used to create this roving graze on a beautiful ridge in south central Wisconsin and a small farm in upstate New York. Both shepherdesses coat their flock, meaning there’s no VM in any of the roving. Just under half the wool used is naturally colored, providing extra depth to our colorways.
Our roving has been custom milled in New York by Battenkill Fibers into a thick pin-drafted roving. Because the roving is pin-drafted you'll need to do less prep-work splitting the braid into a desirable width for spinning.
I hand-dye the roving in small batches to ensure even, repeatable color distribution between braids. The roving is then double checked to make sure no felting occurred during the dye process, so you have an excellent spinning experience!
Limited Run - although this is still CVM/Cormo it differs significantly from our first run!
Softness rating: Medium- medium soft Staple length: 5-6" Spinning skill level: Beginner- This roving has a long staple length and most of the crimp is still present, creating lively roving that won't slip past itself as easily as ultra-processed roving does.
Hand wash in cool water for best results. Some color bleeding may occur even though the roving has been rinsed.
