I've used the same cotton as I do for my punis, so it's ethically sourced (100% GOTS certified) as well as combed, which spins into a smooth yarn. Our sliver is carefully hand-dyed to ensure there's no pesky "crunchy spots" that can sometimes appear in cotton, making sure you have an enjoyable time spinning our sliver!
This color has been hand painted with alternating stripes of blue/green and tan, then overdyed with orange, yellow, and maroon patches. Dyeing the sliver this way will create an interesting effect when spun, with random spots of color over the consistent stripes. There is some variation within each color that makes any project truly unique.
15% of proceeds from this listing will be donated to Las Gralarias Foundation which raises funds for Reserva Las Gralarias in Mindo, Ecuador. The goal of the reserve is to protect land at varying altitudes of cloud forest habitat that would otherwise be used for agricultural purposes. I was fortunate enough to intern at the reserve for a month in 2011 and am confident that funds will be put towards much needed conservation efforts. The reserve has an abundance of amphibians, which is why all the colorways with 15% of proceeds going to Las Gralarias are reptile and amphibian inspired. Visit reservalasgralarias.com to learn more!
We have made our best attempt to color correct the product photos to accurately represent the colors.
